Crash Landing On You Filming Locations In Switzerland

The popularity of the Korean drama Crash Landing On You starring Son Ye-Jin (Seri) and Hyun Bin (Captain Ri) has brought droves of fans to Switzerland. I recently travelled there to visit the filming locations myself. Below is a few of the locations that I managed to get to and their location.

Munsterbrucke

A pedestrian bridge in the city of Zurich overlooking the Limmat river. This is where Seri was wandering aimlessly hoping to find Mr Ri. It is located in Zurich's Old Town Altstadt. From Zurich HB, the main train station, take tram no 11 from Bahnhofquai towards Zürich, Rehalp, get off Paradeplatz and it is only al 4 minute walk from there.

Lindenhof

This plaza is located in Lindenhof hill on the left side of the Limmat. This location provides a panoramic view of the Old Town, Grossmunster church and the Limmat river, This was in a scene where Seri thought he saw Captain Ri playing the piano but in fact it was someone else. It is only a 12 minute walk from Zurich HB main station. It is a very nice vantage point. If only it was not raining when we were there. Though it was lovely all the same.

Schweizer Heimatwerk, Zurich

This shop is where Seri and Seo Dan first met by chance when they happen to be buying some kitkats inside this shop. Located in Urania Street or Uraniastrasse, just roughly 10 minutes walk from Lindenhof hill, this is actually a home shop and I was disappointed not to see any kitkats inside. It is worth having a look because it is a beautiful shop.

Sigriswill Panorama Bridge

The panorama bridge connecting Sigriswill and Aeschlen is suspension brdige on Lake Thun. This features heavily in the series as this is where Seri and Captain Ri first crossed paths. where Captain Ri captured in his camera a tearful Seri. The weather was not too cold when we came here and the sun was shining on and off. You have to pay 8 CHF to cross the bridge. It is a nice walk once you cross over to Aeschlen as there is a hotel aptly called Panorama hotel which serves asian fare (Thai) in their restaurant. We drove from Zurich and it took 2 hours. You can take the train from Zurich HB toward IC81towards Interlaken Ost to Thun then from Platform A take the bus towards 21towards Gunten, Dorf to Sigriswil Dorf and it is just a 3 minute walk from there.

Schorren, Iseltwald

This is the second filming location in the village of Iseltwald, a short work from Lake Brienz boat dock or landing stage, is a pedestrian lane where Seri and Captain Ri were seen to have crossed paths in one of the scenes. In the background is Schorren castle. By the time we walked there from the boat dock, the sun was shining bright and it was a lot warmer. The photo I took was so clear because of the sunshine.

Lake Brienz Landing Stage

The wooden boat dock in the village of Iseltwald is the main scene of the series as it is where Captain Ri played the piano before leaving Switzerland to return to North Korea. This was the time when Seri was arriving on cruise from the neighboring village and when she heard the sound of the piano. This is a very scenic vantage point of Lake Brienz and the most famous of all the Swiss filming locations of the series. It was overcast when I took the photo but it is still beautiful. To get here if you are taking public transport (we had car rental), from Zurich main train station, you take IC1towards Lausanne to Bern, from platform 5 take the train IC6towards Brig to Spiez then from Bahnhof platform A/B, take the bus towards Interlaken ost to arrive at Interlaken west Bahnhof.
